summer in athens is time to be creative. it's time to read, garden, journal, yoga, and listen. it's time for myself and it's time for good company.  my lovely roommate and i just started driving yesterday and ended up with some fabulous shots in the country side. here are some of our favorites...

            henna.
something about frolicking in a field is so very whimsical to me. we also did some henna tattoos the other day. tres magnifique! i think we are going to start working on a collaborative collection so we can have a gallery showing sometime this summer as well, mucho mixed media with lots of pastel-y color family pieces for sure. it feels good to have creative energy flowing all around you, i'm more productive that way. here are some tunes for the moods...

Intro - The XX
The Stroller - Jaill

is this rain every ganna stop? i'm enjoying it for now.  here are some tunes that will make any rainy day a little sweeter :)  or you could just make a milkshake. i think that's what i'm going to do next since colleen just showed up. mmm.  i really love the album leaf though because they're able create such beautiful music without lyrics, perfect for painting or just drifting away into your thoughts.

The Album Leaf - The Light
Kings of Convenience - Me In You
Mathemagic - Breaststroke

Portugal The Man - "The Dead Dogs"
Ludacris ft. Diamond Trina & Eve - "My Chick Bad"
The White Panda - "Throw Some Tik On That Tok" (Kesha v. Rich Boy)(Stella Edit)
The White Panda - "What You Know About Little Secrets" (T.I. v. Passion Pit)
Peasant - "The End"
Firemouse - "Fire It Up" (Lil' Wayne v. Modest Mouse)
Butterfly Bones - "Crystal Caves" (Rockets Remix)
Chromeo - "Night by Night"
Kid Sister - "Daydreaming" (Jawkob Remix)
Butterfly Explosion - "Closer"
The Kissaway Trail - "SDP"
Gorillaz - "Glitter Freeze"
Gorillaz - "Melancholy Hill"
Gorillaz - Rhinestone Eyes"

Bomb The Bass - "Up The Mountain"
Barbara - "Pursuit of Happiness" (Kid Cudi Cover)
Saycet - "Opal" (Error Love - Opalowsky Remix)
There Will Be Fireworks - "Talking Backwards"

here are some new tunes i'm listening to, provided by hype m, of course.

i can't help diggin' the dub styleee integration that a lot of the remixes and beats got goin' on, even portugal the man is utilizing that bass-y background.
the m.i.a. remix is just good. maybe it's my partiality towards her. this song could be terrible, i wouldn't know though because i adore everything about her. she is such a bad ass, and i can never get enough. after all is said and done, the hype m download pooped out on me and it couldn't be uploaded to this page, anyhow, if you really want to hear it it's the stern remix of sunshowers.
the dj khaled, luda, and snoop tracks are just satisfying my inner thug right now. typical rap, love it or hate it, i need a little fix every now and then.
peasant has been on my radar ever since i heard 'the end', introduced to me by boycompanion. it evokes so much emotion in the most eerily beautiful way possible, very shins-esque, and who doesn't like the shins?
my true obsession on this list is the modest mouse mix. 'fire it up' is my favorite modest mouse song and the mash-up remix is... glorious. click, listen, love.
ahh butterfly bones, this is a heavy dose for synth addicts everywhere. the beat-synth combination is delicate, it's butterfly 80's to the max, but good (keyword: good).
the chromeo remix can speak for itself. we're all familiar enough with the musical musings of chromeo, so here's a remix.
kid sister is mysteriously satisfying and reminds my of a dubby album leaf. i don't really care for the voice at the beginning, it reminds me of corny r&b. an instrumental of this song would be wondrous.
butterfly explosion is news to me, breaking news. it brings me back to my deftones days, and has that raw quality you hear in bands that haven't yet had a major studio process the ef out of them, think naturally aged cheddar v. kraft singles.
the kissaway trail is another band that's news to me, also good news. love their use of bells.
the gorillaz new album plastic beach (which isn't even out yet, muahaha) is pretty freaky-funky. 'glitter freeze' is probably my favorite song on the album (as well as 'rhinestone eyes', 'superfast jellyfish', and 'melancholy hill'), dub-a-licious trippy-ness.
massive attack is a super beat, super dub, in your face mix. awesome.
ok go/passion pit remix is just straight uplifting. catchy, and fun as hell, a la passion pit's usual repertoire.
